The Balance Report is a new feature in Chronicle 14.5 for macOS. It is coming soon to the iPhone and iPad version. To access the report, simply click the Balance menu item on the sidebar, under the Reports header.
The Balance Report allows you to enter your current balance on the sidebar. Then, it shows all your upcoming bills for the current and next month, plus any upcoming scheduled payments and any upcoming income or paydays, and calculates your projected bank balance after each transaction. Note: Chronicle can't track your bank balance directly, and since it only tracks bills, it doesn't know about bank transactions that might occur that are not tracked in Chronicle.
To update your balance, click the Edit button on the right sidebar under the Current Balance header. Then, enter your current bank balance, and you'll see your running balance update for each entry in the balance report. The balance will show in green if it is above zero, and red if below.
Setting a Low Balance Amount
On the right sidebar, underneath where you enter your current balance, you'll also see an option to enter an amount. Set the threshold you would like your bank account to stay at or above. If your balance will drop below that balance in the future, in will show as orange on the report.
Filter Bills On the Balance Report
If you only pay some bills from your bank account, and don't want other bills listed on the balance report, you can filter the balance report by tag. For more information about filtering bills by tags and using tags to track where you pay bills from, see our article here: Organizing Bills with Tags.
